At Summer X Salt, the health and wellness of our community is a top priority. We work hard to ensure that our salty folk stay strong and connected throughout all of our events and gatherings. With the support of local instructors, we team up to provide free Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, and Sound Healing sessions before our markets kick off. Additionally, we offer Seagals Ocean Swims and free kids’ workshops at every event, fostering a sense of community and well-being for all ages. These holistic wellness practices are accessible to all levels and have a positive impact on physical health, mental clarity, and overall well being. Those who have attended our classes report increased calmness, clarity, and a greater sense of fulfilment and peace.
Donations from these sessions are welcomed and donated to local charities, further supporting the wellbeing of our broader community.
Since our inception, Summer X Salt has been dedicated to fostering the growth and success of local businesses and creative talent. We’ve served as a launchpad for over 2,500 emerging small businesses and creative makers, helping them thrive. This includes our annual Salty Start-Up Grant, a $5000 package designed to help new businesses flourish with a prime stall spot at our markets, along with expert mentorship, marketing support, and more. Each year, we support around 250 small, creative West Australian businesses, with market-goers spending over $1 million annually to support these local and independent enterprises.
Beyond supporting small businesses, we’re committed to nurturing young musicians aged 12-25 by offering them opportunities to perform in front of large audiences, helping them build confidence and advance their careers. In 2019, our sellout ‘SALTY NIGHTS’ Outdoor Movie Night raised over $10,000 for Bushfire Relief. With over 50,000 visitors annually, our markets have become a beloved part of the Perth community.
In 2024, we’re excited to launch Mini Makers, an initiative for young entrepreneurs aged 6-16, giving them a platform to showcase their creativity. We’re also deeply committed to sustainability, partnering with Carbon Positive Australia to offset our emissions, contributing to the planting of over 6 million trees nationwide, including 1,200 through our efforts.
Summer x Salt provides a safe, fun environment where volunteers from all backgrounds can join in and make a difference. To date, we’ve been supported by over 5,000 volunteer hours, each one contributing to the vibrant energy of our markets. Volunteering with us is not only an excellent way to develop skills and build confidence, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and become part of a community of like-minded salty folk.
